Environmental Policy

Enviornmental responsibility is a natural part of our activities. A desire to preserve the environment and do what we can to maintain development as much as possible is part of our responsibility to society.

In addition to defining our most important environmental areas, setting environmental goals and developing strategies to achieve these goals, we strive to make environmental issues part of the standard workday of each employee. We continually train our employees in environmental issues and our environmental mindedness is integrated in all work routines.

Each day we take another small step towards a better environment

At Tamro, we have identified three areas in our business in which we can especially impact the environment. These are waste management, energy consumption and transports. Transports is the greatest area - and we have already come very far. We gauge fuel consumption of all of our transports to reduce the amount of fuel per delivery as much as possible. We also place demands on our carriers so that all vehicles are employed maximally during each run.

To reduce energy consumption as much as possible, we have switched from the use of fluorescent tubes to low energy bulbs and have implemented a new ventilation system in our facilities to optimise energy consumption.

Seventy-eight percent of our waste is recycled and fifteen percent is burned for energy recycling. Another five percent, which is pharmaceutical waste, is handled and destroyed in accordance with applicable legislation. Taking care of excess pharmaceuticals that have been submitted to pharmacies throughout the country is a service that we are alone in providing in a role as distributor.
