Background

Tamro originates from ADA, Apotekarnes Droghandelsaktiebolag, which started up in 1921.

1921

ADA, Apotekarnes Droghandelsaktiebolag, begins wholesaling with pharmaceuticals, drugs and salts for the pharmacy. The pharmaceutical company Pharmacia is acquired as subsidiary.

1970

The Swedish pharmacy enterprise is reorganised. New legislation, with today's monopoly structure, is introduced. All pharmacies are to be coordinated within Apoteksbolaget. The year thereafter, single channel distribution is introduced. ADA is purchased by Apoteksbolaget.

1995

The Finnish company Tamro Oyj acquires ADA. The company changes its name to Tamro AB.

2000

The Phoenix Group - one of Europe's leading pharmaceutical wholesalers - acquires one third of the Tamro Group.

2004

The Phoenix Group becomes sole owner of the Tamro Group.
