ADA is formed.
On March 31, Malmsten and Bergvall's pharmaceutical department is transformed into Apotekarnes Droghandelsaktiebolag. The task is to deliver medicines, drugs, and salts to pharmacies.

A minor revolution.
The newly hired Carl-Gustav Hellquist drives through the standardisation of packaging for drugs and creates a dispensing department. This marks the beginning of ADA's technical development.

ADA becomes the dominant pharmaceutical distributor.
The company accounts for 85 percent of the delivered volume to pharmacies and 80 percent of the number of items.

ADA becomes Tamro.
Finnish Tamro and ADA have had a good collaboration during the 90s and choose to merge. Tamro thus becomes the fourth largest distribution company for pharmaceuticals in Europe.

Tamro becomes part of PHOENIX group.
The pan-European pharmaceutical group PHOENIX acquires Tamro. PHOENIX group operates in 29 countries and delivers medicines and healthcare products to pharmacies and healthcare providers across Europe.

The deregulation of the pharmacy monopoly.
Tamro goes from having one to significantly more pharmacy customers when the ownership of Swedish pharmacies is liberalised.

An invaluable effort during the pandemic.
During the coronavirus pandemic, Tamro faced a new challenge that required rapid adaptation. Through a strong team effort, we ensured that pharmaceutical deliveries arrived on time and could support the MSB and the government.

Tamro turns 100 years old!
Tamro has 700 employees and distribution centres in Gothenburg, Umeå, and Stockholm. Today, Tamro is the largest player in pharmaceutical distribution in Sweden.

Team Rynkeby is a European charity cycling team that cycles to Paris every year to raise money for children with critical illnesses and their families. In Sweden, Team Rynkeby supports two organisations: the Swedish Childhood Cancer Fund and the Swedish Brain Foundation. Since 2002, Team Rynkeby has raised over 440 million SEK, contributing to research in childhood cancer. Since autumn 2023, Tamro has chosen to become a gold sponsor of the association and support their charity initiatives.

The group delivers medicines and healthcare products to pharmacies, hospitals, and medical institutions. The wide range also includes other products and services for pharmacy customers, from patient counselling to modern inventory management systems and collaboration programmes for pharmacies. About 18,000 pharmacies in 15 countries are members of one of the PHOENIX group's partnership and collaboration programmes.
