NPA - Administration of producer responsibility for packaging
All companies that sell a product on the Swedish market have a producer responsibility for packaging. This responsibility means that you, as a producer, have a financial obligation to ensure that your packaging can be collected and recycled in an appropriate manner. This is achieved by being affiliated with a producer responsibility organisation (PRO) and paying a fee for each package sold. The aim is to reduce the amount of waste and increase the amount of waste that can be recycled. The Business Sector's Producer Responsibility, NPA, is one of the PROs approved by the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency and the party to which Tamro reports.
We help your company reduce the amount of internal work by managing the administration and payment of the fees. This work is ongoing and is based on the type of packaging and whether it is easy or difficult to recycle. Packaging that is more difficult to recycle costs more than one designed for recycling.
As we handle the products through our distribution and warehousing, we can smoothly manage all measurement, weighing, and reporting of packaging material to NPA.
Here’s how it works:
Your company joins a producer responsibility organisation (NPA). We then act as your representative. Every month, we report the amount of packaging material your company has sent out and calculate and pay your fee. We continuously provide you with information on what has been reported.
